Morgan Simpson is a thirteen year old drummer from Letchworth, Hertfordshire. Morgan’s talent was first discovered at home. Aged one he was already clapping in time with the beat of music.

Morgan began playing the drums at the age of two. Like many drummers, he started off playing on pots and pans. He was drumming everywhere he went; he sometimes used to drum with pens. At church, Morgan’s uncle put him behind a full size drum kit and Morgan began to play a simple beat. His mother and father where amazed and dumbfounded by his talent. When Morgan reached the age of three he was given a toy drum kit for his birthday. Within a week or two the drum kit was completely and utterly battered. The next year he was given another drum kit, this time for Christmas but the same thing happened…the drum kit got smashed!

As the toy drum kits didn’t work so well, at the age of five, his Mother and Father decided to get him a 5-piece drum kit which was suitable for his advanced playing ability. He loved it and played the drum kit 24/7! Two years later at the age of seven Morgan got a 5-piece Mapex kit which lasted A LOT longer than his toy kits. As his parents wanted him to develop to the best of his ability they decided to let him play at his local church. Morgan relished the opportunity and began to really enjoy his passion!

At ten years old he had the opportunity to play at the ‘Rhythms of the World’ music festival which has an attendance of approximately 30,000 people. He has become a regular feature at this annual event. Morgan has also done a number of gigs, ranging from pubs and clubs to concert venues.

At the age of 12 Morgan entered Young Drummer of the Year 2011 (YDOTY) and he managed to reach the top 10! He gained great confidence and experience in this great event. He is also a top 10 finalist for YDOTY 2012.

Morgan has experience in doing studio work. His first project was on his Mother’s EP ‘Free’, available on iTunes. Morgan played Drums, Cajon and percussion. In the autumn of 2011 Morgan played on the family Christmas EP which is called ‘Silent Night’ also available on iTunes. Morgan comes from a talented family of musicians. His Mother, Elaine, is a singer and vocal coach, Father, Kevin, is a guitarist and guitar teacher and his Sister, Lauren, is a singer and bass guitarist.
